The Petit Gros story

Petit Gros mascotte

Petit Gros, a story of trust, family and friendship

It all begins with a simple, sincere drive: to change our own lives in order to serve others better.

Behind Petit Gros are three complementary characters, bound by trust and friendship: a legal professional, a man from the non-profit world, and a health professional. Three different paths, one shared conviction: there is another way to run a business, built on honesty, fairness and care.

It is from this fusion, familial, friendly and entrepreneurial, that Petit Gros was born in January 2026, in the Hauts-de-France region of Northern France.

Our craft, our mission, our conviction

Our craft? Wholesale trade of canned goods and fine groceries.

Our mission? Sourcing the best products, often from quiet, lesser-known producers, and offering them at the best possible quality-to-price ratio. You don't need a big brand to find a great product.

Our conviction? Against the anonymity of large chains, local commerce remains a place of connection, pleasure and speciality.

A chain where everyone wins

At Petit Gros, we believe in a chain where everyone wins: producers are paid fairly, we work in good conscience, and you benefit from honest prices. That's what we call cash and carry with a human face: no debt collection, no waiting, clarity for everyone.

Professionals or private customers, you are welcome here. Because quality should not be reserved for a privileged few.

Rooted in Northern France

We are proud to anchor our business in Northern France, to support local actors, to reduce our carbon footprint by favouring short supply chains, and to deliver according to our customers' needs. And when some of our products travel abroad, it is because the quality of French sourcing deserves to be known beyond our borders.

Our promise

Petit Gros: big on quality, fair on price, honest on values.

The Italian tomato vocabulary

To better understand Petit Gros's selection, here are the essential Italian terms:

Pelati : Whole peeled tomatoes preserved in their juice. The benchmark for authentic Neapolitan sauces. Firm texture, sweet flavour.

Polpa Fine : Finely ground tomato pulp, smooth and homogeneous texture. The perfect base for soups, coulis, and light sauces.

Pomodori in Pezzi : Tomatoes in chunks, also known as "crushed". Rustic texture that adds body to sauces, gratins, and slow-cooked dishes.

Doppio Concentrato : Double tomato paste, 28-30% dry extract. Essential for pizzas, bolognese sauces, and rich slow-cooked dishes. The 800 g format targets restaurant use.

San Marzano DOP : A tomato variety grown in Campania (Italy) under European Protected Designation of Origin (Denominazione di Origine Protetta). Volcanic soil from Mount Vesuvius, Mediterranean climate — the absolute reference for high-end Italian canned tomatoes.

Campania : Region in southern Italy around Naples. Historical terroir of San Marzano tomatoes and birthplace of traditional Neapolitan cuisine.
